One Third of Alcohol in UK Consumed By Less Than 5% of People

A shocking stat from Public Health England says that one-third of all alcohol consumption in the UK is from only 4.4 percent of the population. In contrast, about one in five in the UK does not drink at all. One in ten adults drinks alcohol at least five days a week.

Recently, the Scottish government introduced minimum unit pricing for alcohol. The legislation prevents the sale of alcohol for less than 50p per unit (about US$0.68).
